Scottish highlands

The land in rolling purples,
is crimped and sprinkled forth,
as brown and pinks are tumbled,
on earth's full ancient face.
From high to low and back again,
the soil in shuddered joy,
gives birth to endless destiny,
of Scotland's floral grace.

Adytum


Inner shrine holds sacred court
which I can grace alone,
and others are forbidden;
my heart, my soul, my home.
Adytum.


In silent words of  worship,
is the prayer sent forth,
as mind in ritual solemnised;
brings spiritual to birth.
Adytum.

With breaths of new beginning,
and chants of ancient tone,
the Self resides in chapel;
the many made as one.
Adytum.

This place of hidden being,
is where the work is done,
and all can be connected;
God's work revealed as Love.

that the public was forbidden to enter;
an inner shrine.
2. the most sacred or reserved part
of any place of worship.

Rusty


In corrugated clarion call
the metal shows its face,
revealing time's persuasion;
surrendering with grace.

In weathered welts of years
the walls and roof have shed,
the brightness of beginning;
donned rusty cloaks instead.

In pock-marked perseverance,
they stand against the sun,
brace for bitter winter nights;
know that age has come.

In weeping shred of flakes,
they drop the skin of youth,
and offer toothless hope;
the years so soon reduced.

In dulled and dusted dressing,
they hold to shape and life,
as wearied, worn, decaying;
no longer shining bright.

In days of shuddered sleeping,
they hold horizon's hand,
and echo tales forgotten;
lost part of someone's plan.

Frayed self



The words were whispered loud and soft;
'pull yourself together now'
as if no more than shredded cloth,
which could be gathered, surely swept
into fresh-stitched and unknown shape.

Love settled on the face of time,
a shawled embrace, slow-knitted dreams,
to drape it's lace-held web of hope
upon my life eternally.

But dragging at its cornered edge,
the mouth of dribbled years took hold,
as one lost thread surrendered slow
unravelled all I've ever been.

The words were whispered soft and loud;
'pull yourself together now'
as if no more than frayed, lost soul,
which could be gathered, surely swept
and woven into unknown self.

Those who will the fates guide

Those who will the fates guide;
those who won't the fates drag.

So is written on the gate of time,
a wisdom sourced in ancient mind,
a truth which we reject and so deny
that makes the truth so hard to find.
Resisting that which calls us on,
repressing that which is eternal song,
reviling that which speaks of soul;
spitting dust as we are dragged along.
Pretending that it is unknown,
no matter that the signs  have sowed,
and symbols mark the path we follow;
guideposts  marking what is shown.
We turn away from what is so clear,
choosing   myriad doubts and fears,
when to hold the hands of life and fate;
makes us partners in what God creates.

Inherit



The truth is we inherit
the deeper shifts of life
to stand beside our parents;
to birth what they have vowed.
This thunder of our being,
will light the way and yet,
be joined in childhood dreams,
which stand sad and erect.
Beneath soul's broad umbrella,
excuses shelter long, until
we brave the rain of tears;
reveal what we've become.

Third time lucky


Action came first,
then mind was
full engaged,
second saw that
heart had entered in.
But it was the third
that brought  me
full success:
Soul had joined
and all was surely
blessed.

Suffering and healing



As pain does silent enter sorrow's narrow, darkened halls
she hides her ashen face behind doubt's shawl.
And whispers words seductive to deceive heart's fragile truth,
that threatens constant, love's sweet and final proof. 
This shadow wraith firm holds the hand of promised joys,
and pulls toward the path of lies and ploys.
There is no chance of clasping mind to fulsome hopes,
when hurt sings loud the song of loss and curse. 
The siren calls of suffering are sweet on hollow ears,
and courage is surrendered in honour of our fears. 
To bind the ropes upon the mast of purpose,
is Soul's demand in order to resist the curse. 
In throwing back the cloth which hides the past,
we make our way beyond what holds us fast.
